Fake Silencers are also known as: Dummy Can, Faux Suppressor, Mock Silencer, Barrel Shroud & Non Functional Sound Suppressor.
These are designed for
LIVE FIRING.
We test all our
Fake Silencers to be
100% sure that they function shot after shot
without any problems. Be sure to see our notes on the best ammo to use with this item. Click on the
TAB marked
"Ammo Issues". The HK USP Tactical 45 has a special recoil damping device that does not like all ammo.
This Version of the MFI SOCOM Fake Silencer is Marked /
Laser Engraved with the US. Government Property markings similar to those found on the real silencer.
What makes the MFI SOCOM Fake Silencers
UNIQUE from all other real or fake silencers is:
The LETTERING / MARKINGS are INDEXABLE to the CORRECT POSITION! As you may not realize all threaded barrels and silencers have different starting and ending points on the threads. Thus you could have 5 identical weapons all made at the same time and the same silencer or flash suppressor will
NOT end up at the same point on each weapon. This is why you get a peel washer with your AR15 flash suppressor (peels off 10 /1000th of an inch) so you can correctly index your suppressor to the individual weapon.
The same goes for all handguns.
So what we are saying is... No matter how many weapons you have... You will
ALWAYS be able to get the lettering / U.S. GOV. markings in the exact location that you want them. This is because there is a
set screw is hidden in the bottom of the end cap
(see the "x")that allows the outer body to
rotate 360 degrees around the inner barrel. First tighten the set screw and then thread the fake silencer on your weapon. Then loosen the set screw and continue the rotation as if to tighten / go on direction... Position the Laser Markings to the correct location & re-tighten the set screw.
You can screw on & off the Fake Silencer and
NEVER have to reset the letters / set screw. Obviously this set up is for an individual / specific weapon so if you move the fake silencer to a different weapon you will most likely have to re-index the outer body again.
The above photo shows MFI SOCOM Style Fake Silencer on a H&K USP Tactical 45 pistol.
We make
reducing adapters because dealers and many customers what the ability to buy
ONE FAKE SILENCER and any number of adapters so they can more the Fake Silencer from one weapon to another in minutes without the added cost of a second fake silencer.
These adapters are
hidden / thread on thread style, which means that they do
NOT extend or stick outside the Faux Silencer. There is a small shoulder / wrench point to be able to tighten them down and or take them off.
For example: Let’s say you have all of the following:
- HK USP Tactical .45 Cal (16mm right hand threaded barrel)
- AR 15 in .223 / 5.56mm (1/2 X 28 right hand threaded barrel)
- AR 15 COLT SMG in 9mm (1/2 X 36 right hand threaded barrel)
- Beretta 92F or Glock 17 both with FAC / Gun & Stuff in .9mm (1/2 X 32 right hand threaded barrels)
- AK-47 in 7.62 X 39 (14mm left hand threaded barrel).
You could buy
ONE of the MFI SOCOM USP Tactical Fake Silencers above and
4 EXTRA REDUCING ADAPTERS below and move the Fake Silencer from one weapon to the next in seconds! Granted all of the reducing adapters will be for extend the barrel versions only, as there is no slip over / hide the barrel option in this case.
Click on the "
Adapters" tab above for adapter choices.
Adapters are
NOT required and are sold at an
extra cost.
Please note that whenever you have an adapter with an
O.D. thread that goes in the
OPPOSITE DIRECTION as the
I.D. thread the two are
working against each other and thus when you try to tighten one to the fullest it
will loosen the other thread. If you plan to switch back and forth you will either need to live with the fact that you will never get a fully tightened fit or you can permanently attach the adapter to the weapon or to the fake silencer; thus defeating the problem. You can use red or blue lock tight, epoxy or you can weld the adapter (as it is steel) to either the fake silencer or the weapon.
All outer bodies are marked as you see in these photos, with the only exception being that line with our city, state and zip may reflect our old KY address or our new CA address. As the markings are very small and thus very difficult to photograph (sorry our digital camera does not have a macro setting for extreme close ups) we have provided you with the exact words below.

MODEL: SOCOM CAL. .45 ACP
SPECIAL NOTE ON MARKING POSITION: All SOCOM fake silencer markings REGARDLESS of model / version will end up reading left to right from the right hand side of the weapon. (So if you see any photos of SOCOM Fake Silencers with lettering that reads any other way just note that those are obsolete photos.)
MFI has produced a legal version of the
SOCOM Knights Armament Silencer (to meet current BATF specifications for a Fake Silencer / Non-Functional / Cosmetic Only ) here in the USA. MFI has been a
Class II BAFT 07 Manufacturer + SOT & a DOD / Military Contractor so we have access to the real thing here to take measurements off of to assure as close a match as possible. The only area where we deviate from the original in the lettering is changed slightly so as
not to violate Knights Armament Intellectual Property Rights. Everything else is almost identical to the real thing.
No FFL needed, No Special License, No Permit Required & No Special Tax Stamp needed to order.
All MFI Barrel Shrouds / Fake Silencer / Mock Suppressors / Faux Silencers are 100% Cosmetic & have ZERO Function. Unlike true vented barrel shrouds / heat shields our products make NO CLAIM to any protection from heat that is generated from the barrel. As you fire, your barrel will heat up and that heat is directly transferred to the MFI Product. Therefore you should NEVER grab hold of the MFI Product if you have fired more than 5 rounds, as you WILL burn your hands.
The MFI M4 & SOCOM Style Fake Silencers do NOT reduce muzzle noise or muzzle flash in any way. So these are to the best of our knowledge 100% legal for the regular civilian to own in all 50 US States.
Obviously it would be impossible for any manufacturer to know every law / regulation / ordinance of every Country, State, County, City or Town on the planet. For this reason you the customer are required to research this issue to be sure you are within the laws of your specific location.
MFI is NOT liable for any item purchased that violates any law(s) or regulation(s) anywhere on the planet.
One would think that common sense would be a good guide line for any issue, but as the US Federal Government lacks any sense of this we are forced to make statements like this.
When MFI is informed of a State's, County's, City's or Town's specific law / regulation / ordinance we will post it here for all to see. We require a copy of the exact wording to verify the validity of the claim.
