Sliding anything over your barrel or using any type of set screw WILL leave a mark. If your are worried about marking or scratching your barrel, this product is NOT for you.
This product is supplied with Nylon Tipped Set Screws. While I prefer having a steel on steel connection when it comes to set screws, I understand that 99% of those who purchase this item do not want to leave too much of a mark on the barrel. The only way to accommodate this is with High Temperature Resistance Nylon Tipped Set Screws. Set screws regardless of the material can back out due to vibration, so they should be checked from time to time. Additionally Nylon Tipped Set Screws can slip as they are not as secure as a pointed steel tipped set screw. If you do not care about marking your barrel you can pull off the nylon tips (takes some doing, but is very possible) so you have a metal on metal connection that will not slip.
When you want to remove the fake suppressor do NOT back the screws all the way out as that will dislodge the tips. Back them out only enough to get the can off. The ends get deformed when smashed and will no longer fit through the threaded hole.
The MFI SOCOM Style Fake Silencers do NOT reduce muzzle noise or muzzle flash in any way. So these are 100% legal for the regular civilian to own in all 50 US States.
All outer bodies are marked as you see in these photos, with the only exception being that line with our city, state and zip may reflect our old KY address or our new CA address. As the markings are very small and thus very difficult to photograph (sorry our digital camera does not have a macro setting for extreme close ups) we have provided you with the exact words below.

The only areas where we deviate from the original in, is that the Depth of the holes are deeper to reduce weight and add a greater 3D effect and the lettering is changed slightly so as not to violate Knights Armament Intellectual Property Rights.

Materials of construction:
The Outer Body is entirely made out of Aircraft Grade Aluminum. To keep these as LIGHT WEIGHT as possible we use similar methods of construction as the real silencers. The Outer Tubes are made from stamped plate 6061 T-6 aircraft aluminum to allow the extreme radius on the end of the tube to be formed.
The End Cap with the knurled part extends into the outer tube and is PERMANENTLY ATTACHED to the outer tube thus complying with BATF in regards to NO ACCESS to the inner cavity / air gap. This end cap is CNC machined from billet 7170 T-6 aircraft aluminum to assure lightweight and durability.
The Inner Sleeve is made from aluminum tubing for super light weight. This tubing sandwiched between two PERMANENTLY ATTACHED components keeps with the SPIRIT as well as the LETTER of the law.
Any tampering with this item to separate the two parts will result in the tearing / destruction of the outer tube. We deliberately use very thing aluminum for the tubes so that they basically self destruct if tampered with.
The MFI SOCOM Fake Silencer slides over your barrel and is held on by 3 nylon tipped set screws. The nylon tipped set screws will not dent your barrel as much as the steel tipped set screws do. This is High Temperature Nylon so they will NOT melt. If you want steel tipped set screws all you have to do is pull the nylon tips off.
