IN DEPTH DESCRIPTION / KEY FEATURES / IMPROVEMENTS:
A TRUE 100% CO-WITNESS WITH IRON SIGHTS:
True 100% Co-Witness with iron sights through Aimpoint T2 Micro Red Dot Sight & Most Micro Red Dot Sights with the same footprint.
WEAPON'S MOUNT DOES NOT BLOCK THE IRON SIGHTS &
100% UNOBSTRUCTED VIEW WITHOUT A OPTIC IN PLACE:
The mount does NOT Interfere with the iron sights when a red dot is not in place. There is a 100% clear unobstructed view over the top of the rail, without blocking any of the front or rear sights.
100% UNOBSTRUCTED VIEW WITHOUT A OPTIC IN PLACE:
A TRUE UNIVERSAL FIT:
More Universally fitting instead of special mounts for different calibers and manufacturers whose receivers are out of spec. This mount solves all that and UNIVERSALLY FITS ALL MODELS of HK MP5 and G3 regardless of when or where manufactured or even caliber including the .22 LRs.
After more than 2 decades with 100,000+ mounts sold, years of RND / examining customers poor welds on per-1998 MP5s and testing on 100s of different models of G3 & MP5, I have come up with what I believe is the ultimate profile for the underside of all our new scope mounts, which allows our mounts to UNIVERSALLY FIT all the variations out there, no matter how out of spec they may be.
100% SECURE ATTACHMENT:
4 - Independent Draw Style Hooks for 100% Secure Attachment. This solves any deviation is sheet metal stamping and bending.
Having 4 independently controlled contact points (via the claws / hooks) that grab the optics mounting points via the sheet metal gussets is critical as the gussets on the right side generally have a shelf cut in them, whereas the gussets on the left side do not. Additionally, the nature of stamped sheet metal, especially in older foreign clones, unbent flats and home builds, the gussets front to back may not be a uniform identical shape.
EASE OF MOUNTING:
You do NOT need to completely remove the screw / bolt to attach the scope mount.
Nor, should you remove the bolt from the claw / hook when mounting!
The Claw / Hook can have the bolt / screw attached and the mount as a single unit, with the 4 claws / hooks can be slipped onto the weapon, aligned and secured without completely removing the screw / bolt from the claw / hook. No other scope mount for the HK MP5 / G3 series can do this.
Part of the above “Universality” is a new Claw / Hook design that allows the mount to go on without completely removing the bolt from the claw / hook. This also basically eliminates the possibility of cross threading the claw / hook.
Just loosen the screw as far as you can WITHOUT having the claw / hook disengage from the screw. If you look closely, you will see the top of the claw clear the bottom of the mount's cut out, allowing the claw to splay outward, thus clearing the sides of the receiver.
To tighten the screws, you will gently push the bottom of the claw up forcing the screw to rise, so you can use the supplied Allen Key to just take up the slack on all screws. Once you just have the slack taken up you can look at the front of the mount where the gap is between the mount and the receiver. You want to have equal space on either side to ensure that the mount is centered. If needed you can use the 4 independently adjustable set screws on each leg of the mount to hold center (More on this below). Then continue to draw the claws up in a rotational fashion. Do NOT tighten one screw and move on. As you tighten the screws you can look at the sides of the mount and assure that it is sitting flat and level. Holding the Allen key with your fingers on the SHORT end and the LONG end engaged in to the screw head (this keeps you from using any significant leverage, you will gently draw up all 4 screws. Once all 4 screws are to the point where they do not move easily… STOP!
Maximum torque is 2-3 INCH pounds not foot pounds!
At this point you can move the Allen key around and engage the short end into the screw head and turn a maximum of 3/4 of one rotation.
Torque Drivers / Torque Wrenches that read under 10 INCH pounds are usually over $100.00 and 95% of you will NOT have one. So, once the screw stops turning while you are holding the SHORT end, you should stop.
Never use thread locking compound on the set screws or the screws that hole the claws / hooks as these are held in place by constant reverse pressure from the opposite side screws and undoing them would be very difficult and likely end up damaging the thread on the claw or cause the head on the bolt to strip.
So, no more trying to thread a blind hole from the opposite side while holding a weapon upside-down like other mounts require you to do.
The above basically eliminates the possibility of cross threading the bolt or claw, as the screw never leaves the claw.
The 4 side set screws (if needed) can be used to fine adjust the centering of the mount on the receiver
Some MFI mounts also have a set screw located between the front legs on the mount (on 1913 Picatinny Rail mounts the screw is in the slot. 99% of the time this set screw is NEVER used. This is only there for receivers that are really out of spec. on the top and require a slight amount of rise to make the level with the barrel / receiver / plane of the bullet path.
TORQUE WARNING: The bolts for the Claws / Hooks are #4-40 and the maximum torque is very slight @ 2-3 INCH pounds NOT FOOT pounds. Basically imagine if you had a small pre-drilled 1/2" deep hole in a piece of pine (very soft wood) and you used the appropriate size wood screw (say a #8 sheet rock screw) to just turn the screw into the hole to the bottom of the hole, that twisting action is likely 2-3 inch pounds, once the tip of that wood screw hits the bottom of the hole you have maybe a 3/4 of a full turn before you exceed 4 inch pounds. I have to use very small bolts to allow the heads of those bolts to NOT interfere with placing anything i.e. a scope ring or clamp along the mounting surface. Larger bolts just get in the way.

WINDAGE ADJUSTMENT / BETTER CONTACT FOR OUT OF SPEC. RECEIVERS:
A very unique feature of my new MFI mounts is the addition of 4 set screws / one per leg on the skeleton mount allow for windage adjustment / an adjustable centering / perfect alignment of the mount with the center line of the weapon. The 4 Set screws allow an adjustable tight fit regardless of out of spec. receiver. Meaning the set screws can take up any slack or looseness in the mount's body to allow a perfect fit to the receiver regardless of out of spec the receiver may be.
No other scope mount currently on the market has this ability. I am a fan of all things firearms, especially history and have only seen scope mounts and or scope rings from the 1920s and 1930s that have this ability and only because 95% of all scopes of the period lacked any windage adjustment and those that did were extremely limited.
I do offer other footprints, here is a list of the ones I currently make.
- Aimpoint ACRO = MFI Micro Rail.
- DOCTOR / Noblex / Tru*Tec Micro / Vortex Viper = MFI Plate #1
- Trijicon RMR = MFI Plate #2
- Trijicon RMS / Shield / Leupold Delta Point / EoTech E-FLX = MFI Plate #3 ( Included with this item. )
If you have a Red Dot Sight that utilizes a Mil. Spec. 1913 Picatinny Rail, then you must buy the MFI HK MP5/G3/93 Micro Low Mount, which I make EXCLUSIVELY for HKPARTS.NET and here is the direct link for that mount:
NOTE TO ZEALOUS LEFTIST DEMOCRAT / COMMUNIST ANTI GUN ASSHOLES & THEIR CRONY LAW ENFORCEMENT:
In accordance with the Joe Biden & Beto O’Rourke directive I personally as well my company no longer own(s) or possess any firearms or ammunition all lost in a terrible boating, dead center of the Mariana Trench. This includes, but is not limited to: Handguns, Pistols, Shotguns, Rifles, NFA items, Hog Legs, Fire Sticks, Smoke Poles, WMDs, Alien Death Rays, Phasers, Lasers, Storm Trooper Blasters, Directed Energy Weapons, Nukes and or Thunder Clubs.
So, I no longer need the US Government's gracious and altruistic offer to buy back any weapons "real, imaginary or things that might identify themselves as weapons" for their "HEAP BIG WAMPUM"! All firearms that appear on our web site, regardless of what is written about them, are not owned by the company nor possessed by anyone associated with MFI and may even be AI / CGI / PhotoShop. Therefore regardless of any new firearms laws / taxes, no probable cause can EVER be assumed on any property (stationary or mobile) owed by myself or MFI. AGAIN: We are 100% in compliance with any possible new “Biden / O’Rourke Public Safety Act” and therefore NO PROBABLE CAUSE could ever be assumed. Lastly anyone arriving with a warrant of any kind will be assumed to be an IMPOSTER with intent on murdering us and will be treated as such without warning. Those invading our territory may receive serious and even fatal wounds from rusty blades, clubs with bent nails, spear tips, arrows, crossbow bolts and or Big Mike's man member.NOTE NEW STATE LAWS:
States like IL & NY have recently defied the Supreme Count's Rules and continue to enact new gun laws. TO BE 100% CLEAR! MFI (in essence me as I am a one man show) having studied Constitutional Law in Collage see ALL STATE LAWS that limit firearms in any manner as a violation of BOTH the 2nd Amendment and the 10th Amendment. I WILL ship ALL MFI PRODUCTS to all 50 US STATES regardless of your state's "opinion" or "feelings" or "regulations" as these are absolutely 100% Unconstitutional. Instructions
- Be sure the weapon is unloaded and the safety is on.
- Remove all 4 of the small bolts from the mount.
- Open / pull outward the bottom of the hook / lock point on all 4 points.
- Place the mount on top of the weapon's scope mounting points and press down. While pressure is applied press the mounting points back inward toward the receiver.
- Place the small bolts back into the 4 holes and down into the mounting points and tighten by hand to avoid cross threading. Alternate from bolt to bolt as you tighten to keep the mount level. Use a 5/64 allen key / hex wrench to finish tightening (do not over tighten). The mount is now installed. To remove simply reverse the aforementioned instructions. Never use Loctite or any other thread locking compound as it will take a torch to get the mount off or you will strip the bolt heads. The set screw is used to apply pressure down on to the top of the receiver to add stability to the extension area. Once attached to the weapon this mount should NOT be removed. It does NOT interfere with the iron sites or any other operation such as cleaning. On and Off removal will result in stripping the threads on the hooks.
HAND FITTING / TROUBLE SHOOTING
Because there are so many G3 / MP5 variants (genuine and clone) out there & in 6 different calibers, that span 30+ years of manufacturing changes, some hand fitting may be required. The issue mainly stems from the fact that in order to get a good solid fit we have to hold very tight tolerances. The tolerances that the manufacturers hold to are far less stringent. This mount unlike other HK style mounts does NOT squeeze the receiver via a cam mechanism or utilize a side to side lock. We are clamping to the small gusseted shelves in an up and down fashion. This "sandwiching" type of mounting system is far more robust and stable than any side to side type of mount. Again we are dealing with a tolerance of +/- thousands of an inch (less than the thickness of a couple playing cards).
Manufactures of these weapons can easily fall out of spec without knowing because:
- Some hold tolerances only to +/- hundredths of an inch as there is no solid Mil. Spec. for this area.
- Using thicker or thinner steel for the stamping.
- The application of too much paint.
- Dripping paint over the ledge of the shelf.
- Use of old or worn tooling.
- Not making the final milling pass to flatten the shelf / ledge.
- PROBLEM: My MFI mount SLIPS OFF when tightened or does NOT grab the shelf or shelves as it appears the legs / hooks are NOT long (width) enough to make solid contact with the receiver ledge. ANSWER: For this there are 2 possible answers:
- There is a glob of paint / paint drip that is covering the sharp right angle of the lower part of the ledge where the hook / leg hits the receiver. Look to see if this might be the issue. If you cannot see a clear delineation in the shelf that makes a sharp right angle for the ledge then take a probe / hand file / sharp pointed object and run it across the ledge to remove the excess paint.
- Your receiver is out of spec and falls in the very narrow spectrum. Contact MFI for a wider / longer reaching hooks / legs. If you are familiar with knocking in and out roll pins we can just send you a set of our special longer legs / hooks. If not you can send us the mount and we can swap out the hooks for you FREE OF CHARGE. You pay only the shipping to us. You will likely still have to hand fit the legs to your receiver as we make these extra long to accommodate the wide variety of out of spec distances. (see below #3) NOTE: Each steel leg / hook costs us $7.00 to make. So we supply these on a per needed basis only. You may be required to send in the old legs for length verification. Otherwise a set of (2) legs / hooks are available to buy for $15.00 (which includes S&H).
- PROBLEM: My MFI mount does NOT sit flat / level on the top of the receiver. NOTE: There should be a uniform gap / space between the bottom of the mount and the top of the receiver. ANSWER: You likely have not fully seated the mount over the anti-recoil stop block (the part sticking up just forward of the rear sight on a G3 (HK 91 / HK 93) or the welded taps in the center of the receiver on a HK MP5). With the mount just sitting on the top of the receiver (no screws or bolts in the hooks / legs) it should sit flat and level. If NOT... Although quite rare... You likely have a CETME, HK Clone or Mid 1980s HK91 build using after market rear sight blocks that have the tower portion (part sticking up) that is too tall. Generally the fastest fix is to file down the tower with a hand file. We are talking about only a few hits with a hand file to knock the high spot down. The other option is to mill out the MFI rail from underneath where we already have the cut out slot.
- PROBLEM: I cannot get all of the bolts / screws in the hooks / legs of my MFI HK Low Profile Mount. Meaning... When I look down from the top of the mount, through the hole where the bolt goes in the main body of the mount, I see that the hook / leg is sitting at a slight angle pointing inward towards the center of the receiver. DO NOT force the bolt in as you may cross thread or strip the threaded holes in the legs.
- First be sure that the mount is centered on the top of the receiver. It is normal to have some side to side play to center the mount. If it is centered then continue to step "b". If NOT then you will need to do step "b" to all legs / hooks in order to have the mount centered on the receiver (this is very rare).
- b. Use a hand file or Dremel fiber cutting wheel (use the side of the wheel) & remove a small amount of the material on the leading edge of the leg / hook where the leg / hook hits the receiver ledge / shelf. You need to remove the same amount from ALL of the legs on the 5.5" and 6.5" long mounts. Mounts that have 6 legs you will remove the Same amount of material on ONLY the 4 REAR legs. So try to remove the same amount of material from each leg.
ANSWER: Your receiver is slightly out of spec and falls in the wide receiver spectrum. Remember that we have to gauge our legs for the MOST COMMON tolerance. In this case you actually have a higher quality weapon in that the steel being used is likely a hair thicker than normal. All you have to do is remove a small amount of material from the part of the leg(s) / hook(s) that are not allowing the bolts to go down into. Follow these steps:
Do NOT remove material from the set of legs forward of the ejection port as this area does not have the shelf / mounting point built into the receiver like the rear does. This will take some time and require you to mount and dis-mount the MFI HK Low Profile Mount from the receiver several times. In doing so you will end up with a Rock Solid mounting platform custom fit to your weapon.
